Megan Annetts studied BSc Physical Geography at Aberystwyth University, developing a keen interest in fluvial geomorphology, and flood risk, as well as acquiring field experience in, sediment sampling, macroinvertebrate sampling and land surveying techniques. Her research project as an undergraduate student explored the impact of micro-hydropower on river channel morphology and subsequent impacts on flooding caused by these changes, which encompassed extensive desk  based assessments utilizing aerial imagery, historical and national park construction records in the Cressbrook area of the Peak District  in order to target areas for undertaking  field work; which encompassed, velocity area, sediment sampling and kick sampling methodologies as well as the application of the water framework directives channel classification system.
