Bertie has an MSc in Land and Hydrographic Surveying from the University of Glasgow and previously has worked with Malcolm Hughes, conducting a range of topographic surveys, including river surveys.
Bertie’s undergraduate studies were in Sustainable Development and Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh. She has spent time travelling in Hawai’i, Trinidad, and Mexico, volunteering with various rural projects focused on sustainability issues.
Bertie is a surveyor and hydraulic modeller with an MSc in Land and Hydrographic Surveying from the University of Glasgow. She has developed a strong understanding of geodetic principles in surveying, along with experience using topographic equipment in field practices. Previous work experience has further developed these skills, and she is now an adaptable surveyor proficient in the use of Total Station and GNSS survey methodologies as well as the assessment and use of LiDAR. Bertie’s time and experience surveying also give her additional insight when building hydraulic models, ensuring that they accurately represent site characteristics.
As a consultant modeller and surveyor at CBEC, Bertie carries out hydraulic modelling using HEC-RAS software as well as conducting surveying field work.
