Dr Colm Casserly is a Senior Consultant and Fluvial Geomorphologist with cbec’s International Team based in Ireland. Specialising in fluvial processes, his area of expertise centres on the geomorphic impact that man-made infrastructure has on rivers and their capacity to disrupt connectivity. His role at cbec focuses on managing on-going projects, undertaking site visits, optioneering, conducting fluvial audits and sediment sampling assessments. Colm also holds an Adjunct Research Fellowship at UCD’s School of Geography as part of the EPA-fund HymoGuide Project, a project with the core aim of providing recommendations that will inform the development of standards for hydromorphology for surface waterbodies (rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal (TRaC) waters) in Ireland. He undertook his PhD at University College Dublin, where his doctoral research formed part of the EPA-funded Reconnect project that developed measures for assessing the impacts of in-stream barriers. In addition to having a background in the construction industry, he has published a number of peer-reviewed articles and has worked in a research capacity at Inland Fisheries Ireland. Based out of cbec’s Dublin Office, he is currently managing projects based in Ireland, Iceland, and Norway.
