Rachel Greene, MSc

Consultant – Geomorphology

With a background in environmental science and ecology from Massey University (Aotearoa, NZ), Rachel completed her Master of Environmental Science in Australia at the University of New England. Her research thesis focused on river restoration in the Anthropocene and investigated projects across catchments in regional NSW. She compared on-ground river management practices with the theoretical progression from command-and-control paradigms towards working with natural processes. During her master’s, she presented at the UK RRC Scientific Advances in River Restoration conference in September 2023.
Rachel has gained fieldwork experience in a range of riverine environments across Australia and NZ, including river condition assessments, water quality and eDNA sampling, and surveys of aquatic invertebrates and native fish. In her recent role as a junior research fellow on an aquatic ecology and restoration team in Australia, she conducted drone surveying and photography, and mapping and data processing in ArcGIS. As a Consultant Geomorphologist at CBEC, Rachel will support geomorphological surveys, fluvial audits, and sediment sampling, and contribute to project reporting and GIS mapping.
